Step 1: Determine Type of VA Loan Refinance
In Texas there are two types of VA Home Loan refinancing available:
- VA Streamline Refinance or
- Conventional, FHA or USDA Loan to VA Loan Refinance.
If you currently have a VA Mortgage, you’ll want to do the VA streamline refinance, otherwise the conventional VA Mortgage refinance may be the right option for you. For more information on each of these see our VA Mortgage Refinance page.
Step 2: Get Pre-Qualified for a VA Refinance
The next step for a VA Loan Refinance is to call us or fill out the short form to the right and we’ll get you pre-qualified. We’ll answer any questions you have and help you understand how much you will be able to save each month on your mortgage payment. Be sure and ask us how you can skip two payments when you refinance with a VA Loan.
Step 3: Formal VA Loan Application
Once we’ve determined you are pre-qualified for a VA Loan Refinance, we’ll prepare the formal VA Mortgage Loan application for you. If you want to get a jump start on this step, you can use our secure online application that can be found at this link. We’ll also prepare all the required disclosures for you to sign and provide you with a list of personal documents that will be required for the VA Loan.
Step 4: Close on Your VA Loan Refinance
After we have your VA Home Loan application and documents, we will process and underwrite your loan, and order the VA Appraisal (if necessary). After your VA Mortgage is approved, you’ll go to closing at a title agency or attorney’s office where you sign the loan documents. Your old home loan is paid off, your new VA Refinance Loan is put in place, and you start making lower mortgage payments!!
