Texas disabled Veteran benefits include a tax exemption from a portion of the assessed value of a designated Veteran owned property in accordance with the following schedule:
Disability Rating of
- 10% to 29%
- 30% to 49%
- 50% to 70%
- 70% and Over
Exemption of
- up to $5,000 of the assessed value
- up to $7,500 of the assessed value
- up to $10,00 of the assessed value

All disabled Texas Veterans receive property tax exemption benefits. 100% disabled Veterans are fully exempt and other ratings receive exemptions based on the chart above.
When financing a home, Guaranteed Rate Inc. will not collect a property tax escrow account if the borrower can provide the application for disability exemption and a VA disability awards letter showing 100% disability and/or an unemployable rating. More information regarding this exemption can be found this link on the Texas Comptroller’s Website.
